As an atheist since the third grade, I have paid little attention to religionists other than those who stood out as particular nutcakes. I've always had an interest in how the world works, and so eventually found Richard Dawkins and The Blind Watchmaker, which lead to more of an interest in biology. Eventually, I found my way into the religious debates. Just as an exercise in critical thinking, I occasionally surf youtube to listen to religious people speak. I'm sorry to say, that I've still not learned to stomach much of it.
Does this not turn people's stomach? And worse yet, do those who adopt this affectation not recognize how it appears to others?
What is it with the sickly sweetness? Is it a requirement that those who claim to love their invisible friend act with the earnestness of a loser begging for a blowjob from his disaffected partner? I used to notice that the Catholic priests used to have that same syrupy smear. I suspect the reason the caller smokes marijuana while reading the bible is to combat the nausea. The pastor is a Poe.
